THE SHORT ANSWER

TLDR

Princess is a British motor-yacht builder established in Plymouth in 1965. Its range covers sports cruisers, flybridge and sportbridge yachts, alongside larger Y and X Class yachts. Buyers on the French Riviera should compare accommodation, cruising speed, servicing and berth fit. We help shape an independent search around your brief; this guide is not a list of yachts currently offered for sale.

HERITAGE

What is the history of Princess?

Princess began in Plymouth in 1965, originally as Marine Projects, associated with David King, Cliff Viney and Brian Phillips. Its first boat was the Project 31. Plymouth remains central to the brand’s manufacturing identity.

The company grew from compact cruisers into a broad motor-yacht range. It celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2025. That history is valuable context, but a long-established brand does not remove the need to investigate an individual yacht’s condition, ownership documents and maintenance.

MODELS, NOT MARKETING RANKINGS

Which Princess models should you compare?

What do we know about the best-selling models?

Princess Hong Kong’s published history reports more than 1,200 Princess 32 boats built over a decade and describes it as one of the company’s most successful models. That is a historical production milestone, not proof of today’s best-selling model or Riviera market demand. No current model-level sales ranking is established by the sources here.

Model examples below help you form a shortlist. New and pre-owned configurations vary; inclusion does not confirm current availability.

F Class / F65

Conventional flybridge yachts with family cruising and entertaining in mind.

Before you buy: Assess guest access, flybridge protection, tender arrangements and the equipment on each hull.

V Class

Sports cruisers for buyers seeking a more direct connection to the driving experience.

Before you buy: Inspect propulsion, cockpit and roof systems, and budget fuel for realistic cruising speeds.

S Class

Sportbridge layouts combining a sportier silhouette with an upper outdoor space.

Before you buy: Compare the usability of the upper deck, storage and seating against a conventional flybridge.

Y Class / Y72 and X Class

Larger-yacht living; the X range puts particular emphasis on internal volume.

Before you buy: Model families are not interchangeable: compare crew needs, beam, draft and full operating budgets.

LOOKING AHEAD

What is Princess’s future vision?

Princess’s product direction includes larger, space-led yachts alongside its established sports and flybridge classes. Its X Class illustrates that emphasis on circulation and indoor-outdoor living; the Y72 was unveiled at Cannes in 2021.

The brand describes in-house craftsmanship and conservation-related partnerships, including work with the Marine Conservation Society. Those initiatives should not be confused with proof of zero-emission propulsion. Confirm technologies and efficiency claims for the exact model and build specification.

YOUR YACHT. YOUR RIVIERA.

How do you buy a Princess on the French Riviera?

For Cannes, Antibes or the eastern Riviera, let the berth and your normal crew determine the size before comparing classes. A yacht with the right service history and layout is usually a better starting point than a fashionable model label alone.

Yachting on the Côte d’Azur is a sister company of Living on the Côte d’Azur, led by Anthony Laudin. Our starting point is your brief, followed by a buyer-side search across the market and introductions to independent specialists when needed. We are not presented here as an authorised Princess dealer, and no boat on this page is a confirmed sales listing.

  1. Define your brief. Guests, cruising plans, budget and timing guide the acquisition journey. Read how to buy a yacht on the French Riviera before shortlisting.
  2. Confirm the yacht and the documents. Request title, tax and registration evidence, service history and refit records. Commission an independent survey and sea trial before committing.
  3. Cost the whole ownership plan. Use our Finance & Ownership guide to separate purchase costs from annual berth, crew, insurance, fuel and maintenance budgets. Obtain yacht-specific quotes.
  4. Secure a workable home port. Compare Cannes, Antibes and the coast towards Monaco using the 57-marina directory. Read how Riviera waiting lists work; a seller’s berth does not automatically transfer.

Are there Princess yachts available now?

Availability changes and must be confirmed with the seller or appointed representative. This page does not maintain live inventory. Send your criteria through our confidential yacht brief so the search can be shaped around your requirements.

What does a Princess cost?

There is no responsible single price for the brand. Model, age, condition, specification, tax status and location all matter. Asking prices are not completed-sale evidence. Request a yacht-specific comparison and independent legal and tax advice before agreeing terms.
