THE SHORT ANSWER

TLDR

Fountaine Pajot was founded in 1976 in the La Rochelle area by Jean François Fountaine, Yves Pajot, Daniel Givon and Rémi Tristan. Its cruising-catamaran heritage dates to 1983. HERITAGE

What is the history of Fountaine Pajot?

Jean François Fountaine, Yves Pajot, Daniel Givon and Rémi Tristan founded the business in 1976. Its official history records the first cruising-catamaran range in 1983, marking the development from its early boatbuilding roots into the market it is known for today.

The company’s wider activities now extend beyond sailing catamarans. Group-wide plans and figures may include motor catamarans and monohulls, so they should not be read as achievements of one catamaran model or range.

MODELS, NOT MARKETING RANKINGS

Which Fountaine Pajot models should you compare?

What do we know about the best-selling models?

The official publications cited here do not provide a current model-level sales ranking. The company’s 2025 strategy update reported more than 30 electrically propelled boats in service at Group level; that is not a catamaran-only sales count. Models below are useful comparison points, not claimed best sellers.

Model examples below help you form a shortlist. New and pre-owned configurations vary; inclusion does not confirm current availability.

FP41 / FP44

Newer sailing-catamaran model names in the manufacturer’s 2025 media catalogue.

Before you buy: Verify delivery status, build specification and whether any advertised features are optional.

FP48 / FP51 / FP55

Models in the 2026 catalogue offering different scales of cruising accommodation.

Before you buy: Compare exact beam and layout; a catalogue appearance does not establish available Riviera stock.

Aura 51

A model associated with the company’s energy-innovation programme.

Before you buy: Confirm whether the specific hull has conventional or alternative propulsion and obtain battery and system records.

Samana 59

A larger sailing-catamaran comparison point, also used in prototype development.

Before you buy: Do not assume a production yacht carries prototype technology; verify crew, maintenance and berth requirements.

LOOKING AHEAD

What is Fountaine Pajot’s future vision?

Fountaine Pajot’s 2025 strategy update described a programme of 11 new models by 2028 across catamarans and monohulls. These are Group-wide plans, not a confirmed count of catamaran launches or guaranteed delivery dates.

The company states a goal of offering its fleet with ODSea+ technology by 2030 and describes work on hybrid/electric systems, alternative fuels and materials. This is a roadmap, not proof that all boats are electric today. For any such installation, review actual range assumptions, charging, redundancy and specialist support.

These are dated manufacturer statements and developments, not promises of future resale values, delivery times or environmental performance. Supporting publications are listed below.

YOUR YACHT. YOUR RIVIERA.

How do you buy a Fountaine Pajot on the French Riviera?

Begin with the berth, sailing plans and the number of people who will actually stay aboard. Review any charter use and the precise propulsion package. For newer energy systems, independent technical advice should cover batteries and controls as well as the normal hull and rig survey.

Yachting on the Côte d’Azur is a sister company of Living on the Côte d’Azur, led by Anthony Laudin. Our starting point is your brief, followed by a buyer-side search across the market and introductions to independent specialists when needed. We are not presented here as an authorised Fountaine Pajot dealer, and no boat on this page is a confirmed sales listing.

  1. Define your brief. Guests, cruising plans, budget and timing guide the acquisition journey. Read how to buy a yacht on the French Riviera before shortlisting.
  2. Confirm the yacht and the documents. Request title, tax and registration evidence, service history and refit records. Commission an independent survey and sea trial before committing.
  3. Cost the whole ownership plan. Use our Finance & Ownership guide to separate purchase costs from annual berth, crew, insurance, fuel and maintenance budgets. Obtain yacht-specific quotes.
  4. Secure a workable home port. Compare Cannes, Antibes and the coast towards Monaco using the 57-marina directory. Read how Riviera waiting lists work; a seller’s berth does not automatically transfer.

Are there Fountaine Pajot yachts available now?

Availability changes and must be confirmed with the seller or appointed representative. This page does not maintain live inventory. Send your criteria through our confidential yacht brief so the search can be shaped around your requirements.

What does a Fountaine Pajot cost?

There is no responsible single price for the brand. Model, age, condition, specification, tax status and location all matter. Asking prices are not completed-sale evidence. Request a yacht-specific comparison and independent legal and tax advice before agreeing terms.
