THE SHORT ANSWER

TLDR

Lagoon began in 1984 as Jeanneau’s specialist multihull division and is now part of Groupe Beneteau. Its cruising catamarans offer different balances of accommodation, sailing and outdoor space. For a Riviera purchase, check beam and berth availability before choosing a model. We provide buyer-side search guidance, not a Lagoon dealership or verified live inventory.

HERITAGE

What is the history of Lagoon?

Lagoon’s official history begins in 1984, when the brand developed as a specialist multihull division of Jeanneau. Its background connects composite-boat expertise with the development of cruising catamarans.

Now within Groupe Beneteau, Lagoon offers sailing catamarans and larger multihulls. Its Heritage range documents past models, which helps buyers distinguish a current product from an older yacht carrying the same familiar brand name.

MODELS, NOT MARKETING RANKINGS

Which Lagoon models should you compare?

What do we know about the best-selling models?

Lagoon announced its 1,000th Lagoon 42 in November 2023, following the model’s 2015 launch. That is a verifiable manufacturer-reported production milestone. Its accompanying “best-selling cruising catamaran” description is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified ranking here or evidence of Riviera sales volumes.

Model examples below help you form a shortlist. New and pre-owned configurations vary; inclusion does not confirm current availability.

Lagoon 38 / 43

Smaller current-range cruising catamarans for buyers balancing living space and overall size.

Before you buy: Confirm beam, loaded draft, helm visibility and the configuration of the actual boat.

Lagoon 42

A long-running model with a documented production milestone and multiple specifications.

Before you buy: Check ownership and charter history, rig inspection records, engine hours and refit documentation.

Lagoon 46 / 51

Sailing catamarans for buyers considering additional accommodation and outdoor living space.

Before you buy: Compare real payload, sail-handling arrangements and maintenance access, not just cabin count.

Lagoon 55 / 60 and Sixty range

Larger multihulls with more substantial accommodation and operational requirements.

Before you buy: Distinguish sailing and motor models; confirm crew, berth width, shore power and tender handling.

LOOKING AHEAD

What is Lagoon’s future vision?

Lagoon describes initiatives including recycled upholstery, responsibly sourced wood and improvements to composites and production. These are manufacturer-stated initiatives, not evidence that every Lagoon has the same specification or environmental footprint.

For buyers, the practical future-facing questions concern repairability, equipment support and real energy use. Solar panels or an upgraded battery installation do not automatically mean electric propulsion; request the as-built specification and assess any aftermarket changes.

These are dated manufacturer statements and developments, not promises of future resale values, delivery times or environmental performance. Supporting publications are listed below.

YOUR YACHT. YOUR RIVIERA.

How do you buy a Lagoon on the French Riviera?

On the Riviera, a catamaran’s beam can narrow berth options even when its length looks manageable. Obtain written confirmation of berth dimensions and terms. For a previously chartered Lagoon, ask for complete usage, service and damage records and have rig, hulls and propulsion independently inspected.

Yachting on the Côte d’Azur is a sister company of Living on the Côte d’Azur, led by Anthony Laudin. Our starting point is your brief, followed by a buyer-side search across the market and introductions to independent specialists when needed. We are not presented here as an authorised Lagoon dealer, and no boat on this page is a confirmed sales listing.

  1. Define your brief. Guests, cruising plans, budget and timing guide the acquisition journey. Read how to buy a yacht on the French Riviera before shortlisting.
  2. Confirm the yacht and the documents. Request title, tax and registration evidence, service history and refit records. Commission an independent survey and sea trial before committing.
  3. Cost the whole ownership plan. Use our Finance & Ownership guide to separate purchase costs from annual berth, crew, insurance, fuel and maintenance budgets. Obtain yacht-specific quotes.
  4. Secure a workable home port. Compare Cannes, Antibes and the coast towards Monaco using the 57-marina directory. Read how Riviera waiting lists work; a seller’s berth does not automatically transfer.

Are there Lagoon yachts available now?

Availability changes and must be confirmed with the seller or appointed representative. This page does not maintain live inventory. Send your criteria through our confidential yacht brief so the search can be shaped around your requirements.

What does a Lagoon cost?

There is no responsible single price for the brand. Model, age, condition, specification, tax status and location all matter. Asking prices are not completed-sale evidence. Request a yacht-specific comparison and independent legal and tax advice before agreeing terms.
